This was my entry to their poster contest and sadly… I didn’t win. I knew that the odds of me winning were low. Maybe it’s my art style that they didn’t like… I don’t know. I aimed for a manga look with some digital watercolor for their mascot. When I was at the con on Saturday, I didn’t want to look at the posters posted around the campus because it made me have negative thoughts about losing this contest. I’m entering in a better art contest next time. Will I enter again? No. And only two of my questions were answered because I really needed help since I was confused in some areas; I emailed about 5 or 4 questions. But hey, on the positive side, it gave me good practice!

  I made this drawing to show my recent frustrations with social media as a small artist. I put love in my artworks… but… not enough people really see. When I'm sitting in the house with nothing to do, I feel alone.  I want to capture that emotion in this drawing. I'm doing okay now. I know that I have friends and family that are there with me. I made these 3 traditional drawings Monday. I was going to post these on my other socials yesterday, but due to my anxiety getting worse (I have a hard time sleeping all of a sudden), I had to cancel posting them. Yes, that's me! On April 24th, my proof copy of my original manga/comic finally arrived.  I am happy to announce that the title of my original comic is titled "SaGia"! More details coming soon. Thanks to my mom's permission, I can finally show my original characters that I've been working on in private (even while I was taking so many mental breaks away from social media). I have been working on SaGia since 2021! Holding it in my hands for the first time... almost made me cry. I recently approved of my proof copy and the physical version will be printed out by Comix Well Spring . I haven't worked on the digital version yet. In my full reaction, I said that the bleed is showing on the front and back covers (white and black borders). I did use their manga template provided but I guess they adjusted it based on the size of my spin...

For this drawing, originally I was going to do a lion. But it ended up turning into a cheetah with wings. When I drew this in my art class last week, my professor said "the Lion King!" and she also told me she had never seen the movie, which surprised me. I used watercolor pencils for the color and before I applied those, I sketched out my drawing first. Finished this yesterday. Just an original drawing I made for fun yesterday while I was at my art class. I was just staring at this piece of paper while it was blank because I ran out of stuff to draw. The final two drawings for my advanced drawing class. That's it! I'm done! I've definitely have seen some improvement with my drawings. I hope to use these improvements (based on my professor's feedback) in the future. For drawing #7 (top drawing; green alien girl), like drawing #4 , this drawing is based on an old drawing that I did on my iPad from 2021. I used watercolor. I added blue and white acrylic paint for the stars. I messed up with the right side of her jacket (where the orange circle is located at) and I was afraid of making a hole in the drawing so I tried my best to cover it up by adding some more watercolor on top. Original drawing from 2021 (I remember saying she looked like an alien version of Android 18 XD): I chose version 1 (no pupils) for drawing #7. Transferring a digital drawing to traditionally was difficult. I did sketch it in my sketchbook and tried to replicate that sketch to the big drawing. And a pretty fitting drawing for me to submit as this week's drawing assignment because Wednesday (2/14) is Valentine's Day which I forgot about when I started this piece last week. I only have one more New Media assignment to go and 4 more drawing assignments left (I believe there's a total of 8). For this New Media drawing, I used watercolor pencils. I have previously used it before (if you've seen a post on this blog or on my Instagram/DeviantArt/Tumblr/Twitter) so I am very familiar with using them. I've gotten much more experimental. I didn't bring my giant drawing pad to class so I borrowed one of my professor's paper that was already sitting on my desk (it's actually for the beginner drawing students for an assignment they're doing). However, she forgot to give me Bristol paper but this drawing still turned out nice on regular paper. Another digital original drawing complete. I finished this on Sunday.  I first did a sketch in my sketchbook after completing my Space Gal drawing from Saturday (I'm really proud of my Space Pirate girl drawing for real!). I felt like sketching something using my imagination. This sketch was quick and just a thumbnail. I then put the sketch in Procreate and extended the canvas. I moved my photo of my sketch to the right a bit and added more background details. What led me to do these two drawings (this and the Space Pirate girl)? I've been watching documentaries from a YouTube channel called Archipel and their content is interesting (I added them to my resources page Friday).  Their videos, "Alternative Paths to Manga" and “Acky Bright” , got me into drawing more original art because I haven't been in a drawing mood due to college (except drawing for my art class that I'm currently taking).   In my post, Drawing #2 , I said I had this idea of drawing this space pirate girl for my next art class assignment. But the drawing took a different direction instead. And if I were to draw a black background, that would waste ink. Today, I finally got to draw my space pirate girl idea (as a non art class assignment). Originally, she was gonna have an eyepatch on her left eye (right eye) but I scrapped it and let her hair cover it up. I sketched the idea in my sketchbook and finished the rest in Procreate. I was feeling sad last week and I had an idea of a water goddess crying. I came up with a name for this drawing: “Sea of Tears”. I wasn’t really crying last week, just some depression kicked in.  I used different blue colored pencils and Micropens. I’m getting Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride vibes from looking at this drawing (probably because of the colors I used?). Man, I forgot about that movie. Let me know what you think!
