Full color commission request by citizenvince101 on Instagram - Daisy and Deroline. My very first art commission! Deroline is a fake hero from the Dragon Quest Dai no Daibouken anime, who steals Daisy’s (from the Dragon Quest Abel Yuusha Densetsu anime) precious jewels (the jewels are actually defeated monsters)! He runs away, but Daisy chases him down! Deroline looks like Erdrick, but it isn’t him, just so you know. Originally, I had other ideas such as Deroline and Daisy sword fighting and Deroline holding a mouse/rat and Daisy being afraid of it (she’s afraid of mice, even though she’s a tough warrior). But I decided to go with the idea of Daisy chasing down Deroline. Enjoy the process below! On 1/25, I got to talk about two Dragon Quest RPGs, with one of them focused on the Dai series. I mentioned that I would be talking about the Abel anime and here I am, talking about it. Dragon Quest: Abel Yuusha Densetsu or in English, Dragon Quest: Legend of the Hero Abel is a very underrated Dragon Quest anime that deserves more love. It has a total of 43 episodes, however episodes 32 and 33 were put together as one episode, bringing down the count to 42. Characters are designed by Akira Toriyama, of Dragon Ball fame. It also has an English dub, which I will be bringing up later on in the post. So let's talk some Dragon Quest, shall we? Did you know that Dragon Quest has it's anime series? Yeah. We have: Abel Yuusha Densetsu, or Legend of the Hero Abel with designs by Toriyama (well known for Dragon Ball), Dai no Daibouken or The Adventure of Dai with a currently running anime reboot, and some OVA thing called Emblem of Roto. The character Dai from the Dai no Dabouken series has appeared in Jump Force which is the first time a DQ character appears in a video game outside the series and I believe this might be the first time Dai gets introduced to the west: I will talk about Abel in the future, but for now, let's focus on Dai.
