The Terrible World of MGA Entertainment Dragon Ball Z LCD Handheld Games! (Review)

Image
Here we go again, more DBZ merch released by MGA Entertainment.  No, you aren't high or having a dream, these are real games (happy 4/20). Disclaimer: I don't smoke, okay?   Previously (on Dragon Ball Z), I reviewed the obscure Battleship knockoff known as Battle Strategy Game - Frieza Saga Edition  and a pinball game (Summon the Dragon Pinball) which re-uses sounds from a Windows pinball game called Space Cadet. In this post, I'll be looking at some of the Dragon Ball Z LCD games released by this company that I own. This will be the last part of the "MGA Entertainment Saga", as I don't really care about some of the other DBZ merch that they released. I love LCD handhelds. My first exposure to them was when I was at my granny's house and my cousin had these collection of SEGA LCD toys. You know, "SHADOW BASKETBALL". That one.  Confused? Well, it’s a meme from this terrible ad: I definitely remember the Rouge and Amy Tennis game .  Someone out the...

Follow up update to the lost Dragon Ball stage show... kinda.

So, short post.  Back in 2022, I made a post talking about a lost stage show based on original Dragon Ball. Man, that was 4 years ago. Well, sadly, the show still hasn't been found. Also, images I shared of that post are starting to get hard to find on Google... thank goodness I saved those images, because when I searched the exact same thing (キャラクターショー1987), I couldn't find the image I shared in that post anymore. Maybe it also has to do with Twitter (I'm not calling it X) changing a lot and images being scarce to find. In that post, I shared someone in a Bulma outfit. While reverse image searching last night, I found a thumbnail of someone with the same Bulma head, but not the outfit that she wears. I click on it, and it takes me to a Dailymotion video showing off the studio that did the AB Groupe dub (known as "the Big Green dub").   Also at the end of that video, Nozawa (Japanese seiyuu of Goku) makes an appearance, dubbing over a scene with the French voice o...

Dragon Ball Z: Summon the Dragon Pinball by MGA Entertainment Review

Image
Another DBZ MGA product, huh? Previously (on Dragon Ball Z, lol), I took a look at the obscure Battleship knockoff which has never been documented online that much: Dragon Ball Z: Battle Strategy Game - Frieza Saga Edition. Something about the words "Frieza Saga Edition" suggests they were planning another version (possibly based on the Cell/Androids arc), but never happened. It's a fun game and check out my review on that. I want to add on in my review of that game: when I first got it at my doorstep and opened the game box, it reeked of a cigarette smell. I can’t stand those types of smells, so, I looked on Google for some help, used some dryer sheets, putting some inside the three boxes: one box holds the game, one box holds the pieces inside, and the other stores the two boxes and the figures which are in plastic - the front of the box displays the figures using a plastic window.  While that worked for two days, after I took out the sheets, the dryer sheet smell was s...
