Urusei Yatsura: Koi No Survival Birthday Guide (MSX)

I am never coming back to this game ever again. So much figuring out, translations to English, save states and resets and I had beaten this game on 8/18 at 9pm. Posting this guide on my 24th birthday.

Notes:

-Characters such as Ran, Ryunosuke, Sakura, Shinobu, and the Kotatsu Cat appear at random spots. Ryunosuke was the worst one for me during my gameplay. These notes below/guide is based on my first full run of this game.

-I used the following for help: http://idadada.web.fc2.com/uruseimsx/uruseimsx.htm - has a map; really helpful for where you're going. I also uploaded the images of the map to this guide just in case the site no longer exists.

-The music heard in this game is based on actual Urusei Yatsura songs. I didn't know this until I saw it mentioned on a Japanese website.

-There are multiple ways to get a game over; one of them is where after you start to gain control after the prologue, if you go down, you are immediately disqualified and get this beautiful screen of Lum and Ataru. There are videos out there that show that game over screen. There are also traps such as mines and from what I read, there are bad endings (one I read is where if you don't save Lum and get to the end and another bad ending is that if you don't feed the cat the fish that Ran gave you and get to the end where Mendou shows up, the cat will win and get the kiss from Ryoko). I also read that there's a limit on how many times you can use a command; if you exceed that limit, it's game over.

-This version is also S L O W, which is why it gave me a hard time and headache.

-Later on in my guide, I stop using the Japanese for right/left/down/up; it's because I made a separate note in my notepad on where to find Ryunosuke because as I said, she took me the longest to find.

Hopefully, my guide helps for those playing the MSX version; do use the above resources (use Google Translate if you lack Japanese skills) to help you along the way.
