I 100% completed a game from my childhood...
The game from my childhood in question is Enchanted on the Nintendo DS, released in 2007 to tie-in with the movie of the same name; my favorite Disney movie of all time. I got this at some store on the shelf and the part I hate about the game is playing as Prince Edward riding on his horse. I remember getting frustrated with those segments that I had my mom do it for me.
The game follows the whole movie, but there are random slime or mushroom enemies that will attack Giselle for some reason. I remember beating the final boss, Queen Narissa's dragon form at night before waking up in the morning for high school without dying to her. Man, the memories. And I saw the entire credits too and quickly saved my game. I remember my heart beating fast during the fight, and I was scared that my mom or dad would come in and take my DS from me. The game's sword segments gets harder, especially post-game.
And post-game. Hoo boy. When I encountered a random spot in Andalasia and found Queen Narissa's dragon form lurking... yeah. She was more tougher and annoying to fight. She felt like a Dark Souls boss to me. I did game over to her once because to me, she was that hard, but the second time I fought her, I felt relieved that I defeated her. And what's the reward for defeating Narissa? A Royal Crown. This item is actually required to upgrade your dresses in the game to the max level (6 stars). When I found out I had to do that 5 more times, I said, nope, nope, nope. And thus, I never came back to the game. Until now.
On 4/21, I was trying to find the Enchanted flash game from my childhood, so I looked via Flashpoint Archive and found it. This game is a tie-in to the DS game! If you put all the images together before time ran out, you got something special. And special indeed, because when I found out that this flash game had CHEATS for the DS game, that has never been documented on the internet, I had to try it. So, I quickly grabbed my DS from my other room, put in the Enchanted cart, and booted it up.
And it worked. Both codes work. But the one I was interested in was being invincible.
Heck yes. I was a GOD. Well, except for falling in the water, which takes away health. It didn't feel right to be cheating, but I didn't want to deal with Narissa 5 times and rage quit at one point. After grinding for the other ingredients (the apples required to make apple juice was a pain because of the low odds of it appearing via a pile of leaves), combining them, and defeating Narissa 5 more times for the Royal Crown item, I did it. All of the dresses are maxed out. And what's my reward for doing this? Nothing. No cutscene, no celebration, just nothing.
But, the menu for making dresses is different. Usually, at the top, there will be a button that says "Make a Dress", and at the bottom, a button that says "Tutorial", but because all of the dresses are maxed out, the only option is "Combine Materials", which is pointless, as you don't need materials anymore:
I'm so happy to have 100% beaten a DS game from my childhood. At last, this game can rest in my DS carrying purse. Now for the GBA game... (yes, it exists and is a prequel to Enchanted for those unaware) I still have yet to 100% complete that. Although, I sadly got spoiled one time on the special level for 100%-ing the game via YouTube.
Showing off my Enchanted Funko Pops that I got on 4/21! Giselle and Queen Narissa look so cool in-person; I love the shiny material or whatever they used for the dress. Giselle's hair is much brighter than her render; she looks more like her animated counterpart than her live-action one.
