WordPress, why...?

So I wake up at 1pm, check my email, and I'm greeted to this in my email:

Title: Action required: update your site's background image

"Time to refresh your site's background image"

"There's an upcoming change that affects your site (wimbearn). On June 15th, we'll be updating our system, and your current background image will no longer be supported.

To keep your site running smoothly and looking its best, you'll need to update your background image.

Replace or remove your current background image

Head directly to your site's Customizer to make the change.

Not sure how? Check out these step-by-step instructions or reach out to our support team.

Happy customizing,

The WordPress.com team

P.S. Have you considered switching to a block theme? Blocks offer a simpler and more intuitive way of customizing and updating your site."

I don't know if this means that the background patterns will be removed... looks like they don't mention it anywhere. One of the background patterns that I use for my blog (which is one of WordPress' default background patterns) makes my site have that "retro" feel to it. If its true that the background patterns will no longer be there, then, just... why?

However, I had found a bypass around it. By going through the background patterns and saving mine as a webp file and converting it to a png using one of those website converters and uploading it to my site.

Archiving all 30 of the background patterns just in case - you can also use these for your own website:
